The VU Centre of Communication for Development (VU CCD) was set up on the 73rd Independence Day, August 15, 2020, at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of the Vishwakarma University to conduct research and train the students in Development and Empowerment Communication. This is the first Indian university to initiate teaching, research, and application of a new discipline of Empowerment Communication.
VU CCD is an effort to theorize development and empowerment communication from the grassroots perspective and initiate participatory action research. Our effort is to veer the focus from androcentric development and empowerment communication to gender-sensitive theories and models in the field.
We are a team of academicians, students, researchers, practitioners, activists, and people who are working at the grassroots.
